We’ve all been there before: standing in the aisle of your favorite store, staring at the bottles of skin care products, trying to figure out which ones you should buy next. With so many choices it can be hard to keep track of your skincare routine order, and even harder to remember which product goes where when it’s time to apply them to your face! Use this step-by-step guide to choose the right order of your products while creating an easily maintainable skincare routine.
Cleanser
Your skincare routine order should start with cleansing. Cleaning your skin is vital because a lot of makeup, environmental pollutants, and sweat reside on the surface of your skin. You should use a gentle cleanser that isn’t too abrasive and will remove all traces of impurities without stripping your skin of its natural oils. Additionally, cleansing removes buildup in pores and opens up the complexion so it looks refreshed (plus, it reduces the potential for breakouts!) Finally, you’ll want to choose a product that also contains an exfoliating agent like enzymes or fruit extracts because this removes dead skin cells and excess oil from the surface which allows you to apply any subsequent product more easily.
Toner
If you’re trying to figure out your skincare routine order, you may be surprised to find that it doesn’t always need to be applied in a specific sequence. Some people find that it’s more beneficial for them if they tone their skin before applying serums and moisturizers – while others find that it’s better for them if they start with toners. For example, if you have oily skin and use serums with silicone in them, it may be beneficial for you to tone them first so the silicones can soak in easier. However, there is no one-fits-all approach when it comes to this type of thing so the best option is usually experimenting with your order until you figure out what works best for you!
Moisturizer
Skincare routine orders should include moisturizer. A lot of people forget about moisturizer, but it is important for keeping the skin hydrated and healthy. Before getting into the rest of your routine, be sure to cleanse and remove any dirt or makeup with a gentle cleanser first. After that, it’s important to put on your moisturizer right away. Choose one with SPF and a daytime moisturizer if you plan on wearing makeup later on in the day because most natural light contains harmful UV rays that can wreak havoc on your skin! Plus, since this step should be done after cleansing and before other products go on, it ensures that your skin is fresh, clean, and ready for anything else you’re planning to do.
Eye Cream
Start with eye cream. Eye creams prevent the skin around the eyes from sagging or forming wrinkles, and they are formulated with ingredients that minimize under-eye puffiness and dark circles. They also help soothe redness and remove makeup—eyeliners, long-wear makeup, waterproof mascara, etc. This is an essential step in a skincare routine order because it provides moisture for your skin without leaving residue as some eye products can do. Look for moisturizing formulations that are lightweight enough not to affect your makeup routine but powerful enough to target your skin’s needs such as signs of aging.
Sunscreen
The skincare routine order starts with sunscreen. Sunscreen is one of the most important skincare items because it protects your skin from the sun’s harmful UV rays. These rays can not only cause premature wrinkles, but they can also cause some pretty serious skin problems like Skin Cancer, Eczema, and more. The amount of sunscreen you wear will depend on where you live and what time of year it is but, I always recommend wearing an SPF of at least 30 or greater during the day. For more view our all posts
