Skincare Routine for the No-Makeup, Makeup Look

Skincare Routine

It’s all too easy to be confused by the myriad of skincare products out there, but at the end of the day, you only need a few key ingredients to achieve your goal of the no-makeup, makeup look. The trick is to find the right balance between hydration and glow and then use products that are lightweight enough that they don’t make you look overdone on a daily basis. We have all the secrets of how to achieve this complexion in this step-by-step guide on skincare routine for the no-makeup, makeup look!

Moisturize

Moisturizer

A good skincare routine will help your skin stay hydrated and healthy. Always moisturize after washing your face or showering to prevent dryness and flaky skin. I like to use a moisturizer that has SPF in it because SPF 30 is not sufficient protection against the sun. Facial oils are also great because they are made of natural oils that work wonders on your skin and have anti-aging properties as well. The best time to apply them is right before bed so they can soak into your skin while you sleep. If you have any breakouts or acne, don’t forget to use benzoyl peroxide cream (BP) which is an effective treatment that kills bacteria and helps fade scars fast!

Apply Sunscreen

Sunscreen is a must for any skincare routine. It provides protection from sunburns and skin cancer. Sunscreen isn’t just for summer, either—you should be wearing it year-round.
If you do wear makeup, make sure to reapply it throughout the day! If you have dry skin, use an oil-free moisturizer with SPF 30 before applying your makeup to give you extra protection.

Choose a Tinted Moisturizer or BB Cream

The key to achieving a natural look with makeup is choosing a tinted moisturizer or BB cream that matches your skin tone. You can even use an all-in-one product like foundation and use it sparingly on your face. Another option is using a liquid concealer to cover blemishes and dark circles under the eyes. In addition to skincare, wearing sunglasses in the sun helps keep your skin looking fresh!

Conceal Under-Eye Circles

It’s always wise to start with a great skincare routine! This will help to make your makeup last and not cake up. Keep in mind that we’re going for a no-makeup look here so you want to keep as much of your natural skin tone visible. You can try using green or lavender eye cream under your eyes and blending it well. Finish by applying an under-eye concealer with a pinkish tone to brighten up the area underneath your eyes.

Swipe on Some Mascara

To achieve a no-makeup look you’ll want to make sure your skin is looking its best. To start, use skincare products that are suited to your skin type and with ingredients that won’t clog your pores or cause breakouts. I recommend using a gentle cleanser first thing in the morning. Before you put on makeup as well as in the evening after removing makeup. One of my favorites is Pixi’s Gentle Milk Cleanser which contains aloe vera and cucumber extract to soothe dry skin. It also has green tea extract and vitamin E which helps repair sun damage and protect against environmental stressors such as pollution.

Fill in Your Brows

This skincare routine is meant to be done twice a day – morning and night. The first step of this routine is to cleanse. To achieve the no-makeup look, we want to use a gentle cleanser that will help remove any dirt or makeup from the day without stripping your skin of its natural oils. Something like Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser is great for this because it’s very gentle and also moisturizing. Next, you’re going to want to use a toner or astringent on your face. This is optional but often recommended when trying to achieve the no makeup look because it helps close up pores that may have been opened by cleansing which creates an even smoother surface for applying foundation or concealer.

Add a Bit of Blush

No matter how many makeup products you have on hand. If your skin is looking dull or dry, you’ll be left with a lackluster appearance. Skincare should be at the top of your list to get that no-makeup makeup look. Here are some of my favorite skincare products:
1. Start by removing all makeup from your face and eyes. It’s important to use a gentle cleanser that won’t strip your skin’s natural oils. I love Clinique’s Take The Day Off Cleansing Oil! For those with sensitive skin or prone to breakouts, I recommend using Neutrogena’s Mild Facial Soap 2x/day.
